The Jordan national football team, led by Moroccan coach Jamal Salami, has announced its squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Bolivia and Albania on October 10 and 14. The team is preparing for the 2025 Arab Cup, which will take place from December 1 to 18, as well as the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Jordan national football team has secured its spot in the 2026 World Cup for the first time in its history, becoming the first Arab team to do so. The squad includes goalkeepers Yazid Abu Layla, Nur Bani Atiya, and Malik Shalabieh. The defense consists of Abdullah Naseeb, Yazan Arab, Youssef Abu Al-Jazar, Mohammed Abu Al-Nadi, Hadi Al-Hourani, Saleem Obaid, Saad Al-Rousan, Mohand Abu Taha, and Mohammed Abu Hashish. The midfielders are Ali Hijabi, Adham Al-Quraishi, Essam Al-Samiri, Nizar Al-Rashdan, Ibrahim Saadah, Nur Al-Rawabdeh, Amer Jamous, Ahmed Al-Salman, Musa Al-Tamari, and Mahmoud Murad. The forwards are Ali Al-Alwan, Ali Azayzeh, Mohammed Abu Zareq, Ouda Al-Fakhouri, Abdullah Awad, Razq Bani Hani, Ibrahim Sabra, and Wizan Al-Naimat. The squad does not include Hossam Abu Al-Dhahab, Saad Al-Rousan, Rajai Ayed, and Arif Al-Haj due to technical reasons, as well as Anas Boudi due to injury. Coach Jamal Salami has added new players to the squad, including Ibrahim Sabra, a 19-year-old striker from Turkish club Joztepe, who shone with the Olympic team in the qualifiers for the 2023 Asian Cup. Sabra joined his current team, Joztepe, in the recent transfer window, coming from Al-Wahdat, and has scored a goal in 5 games since joining the team. Sabra returns to the national team after participating in two previous international matches before taking a break to participate with the Olympic team in the Asian Cup qualifiers. The Jordan national football team's squad has sparked controversy due to the absence of Ahmed Al-Arsan, the star of Al-Faisaly and top scorer in the local league, as well as one of the top stars of the current season. Al-Arsan, 30, plays on the left wing and has scored 7 goals in 8 games with Al-Faisaly in the Jordanian league, in addition to providing 5 decisive passes, making him the star of the league this season. The Jordan national football team will travel to Turkey on Wednesday, October 1, to set up a training camp that will include a match against Bolivia on Friday, October 10. The team will then head to the Albanian capital, Tirana, on Saturday, October 11, where they will face the hosts on Tuesday, October 14.
