Jordan head coach Badou Al-Zaki has officially announced the national team squad for the September training camp. The 28-player list is set for friendly matches against Syria and Venezuela as part of preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Al-Zaki revealed the squad during a press conference held in the capital, Amman, on Thursday. "The Moroccan Badou Al-Zaki, the technical director of the Jordan national football team, unveiled the official squad for 'Al-Nashama' during the press conference held today in Amman," he said.
The list blends the experience of the golden generation players who contributed to 2026 World Cup qualification and Asian Cup success with new faces from the domestic league. Established names include star player Musa Al-Tamari, goalkeeper Yazeed Abu Layla, Abdullah Al-Fakhoury, Yazan Al-Arab, and Saad Al-Rousan.
The squad also features Al-Faisaly forwards Ahmed Al-Arsan and Yousef Abu Jalbush, who were the top scorers in the Jordanian league last season, indicating the technical staff's desire to bolster the attack. Other new call-ups include Ali Alawan, Mahmoud Mardi, and Nizar Al-Rashdan.
The training camp begins next Tuesday at the National Team Preparation Centre in Amman. The first friendly match will be against Syria on 27 September at King Abdullah II Stadium. Subsequently, the team will host Venezuela at the same venue on 6 October.
This move is part of intensive preparations for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, to be held in Saudi Arabia from 7 January to 5 February. Jordan has been drawn in Group B alongside Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and North Korea. Their tournament campaign begins with a match against Uzbekistan on 8 January in Jeddah.
This call-up comes as the team seeks to regain balance following a tough run of results. Jordan currently sits fourth in World Cup qualifying with zero points from three games, according to the latest stats. The team has lost its last five matches, most recently a 1-3 defeat to Argentina in June.
The technical staff aims to assess the players' physical and technical condition and integrate new elements ahead of the friendly against Syria, the next fixture on the schedule. The match against Syria kicks off on 27 September at King Abdullah II Stadium.
